Frequently Asked Questions about Becoming A Student Leader
Thinking about becoming a student leader for LaunchBot? Take a look at the FAQ section below — it covers some common questions about what to expect and what the role involves. If you're still wondering about anything, just shoot us an email at launchbotorg@gmail.com — we'd love to chat!
What is the expected time commitment per week?
Student leaders should anticipate dedicating 2–4 hours per week. You retain full autonomy over when you complete your tasks—if your schedule varies, you may redistribute your work across busier and lighter weeks as needed.
What is the work format—virtual, in-person, or both?
Being a student leader for LaunchBot comprises both types of work:
-
Virtual: Most fundraising planning, outreach correspondence, and curriculum preparation will occur online.
-
In Person: You will organize local fundraisers (e.g., bake sales), engage with prospective partner organizations, and facilitate hands-on lessons within your community.
I’ve heard about a “three-chapter manual” for student leaders—what is it, and how will it guide me?
The three-chapter manual is your step-by-step playbook for every aspect of the LaunchBot leader role:
-
Chapter 1 – Fundraising
-
Teaches you how to design and launch campaigns (bake sales, online drives), complete with sample email/social-post templates, budgeting worksheets, and donation-maximizing tips.
-
-
Chapter 2 – Partnership Outreach
-
Shows you how to research and connect with local youth centers, schools, libraries, or community groups, including draft scripts for emails/phone calls, partnership-agreement templates, and strategies to keep community partners engaged.
-
-
Chapter 3 – Teaching & Facilitation
-
Provides fully built lesson plans, slide decks, activity instructions, troubleshooting FAQs, and “pro tips” for leading hands-on robotics and coding sessions for K–6 learners.
-
Are there regularly scheduled meetings or check-ins?
There are no required meetings. Check-ins will be arranged upon request or when support is needed. Additionally, once per month we ask that you complete a brief, consolidated check-in form to keep us updated on your work!
Is prior fundraising or teaching experience required?
No prior experience is necessary. We supply detailed instructor manuals, slide decks, and fundraising templates—your enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and eagerness to learn are all that’s required.
